2REGULAR VERBS
- Verbs whose INFINITIVES end in ar, -er, and ir
usually follow a pattern. - The endings show who is doing the action (yo)
hablo, (tú) hablas, and so on. - Verbs that follow certain patterns are called
REGULAR verbs.
3IRREGULAR VERBS
- Verbs that do not follow certain patterns are
called IRREGULAR verbs. - The verb ir is IRREGULAR. It means to go in
English. It is often followed by the word a
Voy a la escuela. Vas al gimnasio. Vamos a
hablar.
4You must put to memory the forms of ir because
it is an irregular verb and it follows no
pattern.

6Ir a INFINITIVE
- We use a form of the verb ir a infinitive to
tell what someone is going to do. - Only the form of ir changes. The second verb
remains in the infinitive form. - Remember that an infinitive is the original,
unconjugated form of a verb. It will end in a
r.

- This translates as going to.. in English and
is referred to as the near future tense. - I am going to study a lot.
- Yo voy a estudiar mucho.
- She is going to go to Grand Island.
- Ella va a ir a Grand Island.
