  • In Spanish, all nouns belong to one of two gender
    categories masculine or feminine.
  • Masculine nouns usually end in o (carro).
  • Feminine nouns usually end in a (fruta).
  • Other Feminine endings for nouns are-dad, -ción,
    -tad
  • Nouns such as cliente or estudieante can be
    either masculine or feminine.

  • Singular nouns name one of something.
  • Plural nouns name more than one of something.
  • If a singular noun ends in a vowel, add s to make
    it plural.
  • Fruta (fruit) frutas (fruits)
  • If a singular noun ends in a consonant, add es to
    make it plural.
  • Estudiante (student ) estudiantes (students)
  • animal (animal) animales (animals)
  • If a noun ends in z, change the z to c and add
    es to make it plural.
