  • German farmers were invited to come down into
    Rome to help farm (they were not citizens of the
    empire)
  • Because the Roman farmers had to join the army
  • Since the farmers were not citizens, they did not
    abide or follow the Roman laws
  • They raided and destroyed the empire from within
    the borders of Rome
  • Rich citizens left Rome because they were not
    happy with the way things were going in the
    empire. The moved out to live in country estates
    to get away from the corruption in the city of
    Rome.
