8FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS
9New Tour Entrance to Set
One of the more memorable scenes of Hobbiton
Movie Set in The Lord of the Rings is the view
through the entrance-way known as Gandalfs
Cutting. Visitors to the set will enter through
this same cutting to reveal the expanse of the
set and the view across the hobbit holes and
gardens to Bag End.
10New Group Area
The release of The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey
in December 2012 will create renewed interest in
New Zealand film locations and associated
attractions. The proposed new group area will be
a temporary facility to cater for groups of up to
400 people with associated gift shop and toilets.
This facility can be expanded to accommodate more
than 800 people. Catering will be undertaken on
site allowing for an all inclusive film
experience without impinging on general tour
flows. This area also has the ability to host
special events, gala dinners and network
functions.

12The Green Dragon Inn
The Green Dragon Inn is the meeting place of the
local Hobbiton area. Tall tales and true are
discussed by the gossiping hobbits over half
pints of ale. From November 2012, The Green
Dragon Inn will open its doors and become an
inclusion to the tour of Hobbiton Movie
Set. Guests will be able to sit down in
authentic surroundings with a real ale or brewed
coffee thus providing added value and a new
dimension to the visitor experience.
