2COURSE CLOTHING I
COURSE OBJECTIVES Students learn the basics of
sewing. Students learn how to purchase
pattern and material in an appropriate
size. Students are able to read the
direction sheet which enables them to
sew on their own. Students are able to
complete hand sewing.
3SEWING EQUIPMENT
Students learn to use sewing equipment.
4FROM OLD TO NEW EMBROIDERY MACHINE
5 SERGERS
6EXTRA PROJECTS Embroider blankets, pillows,
towels, etc. Add pictures to a
project. Make-up bags, pocket books, etc.
Baby or shower gifts Make accessories for
room Personalize items Hand or machine
sew pants, etc.
7 SEWING PROJECTS PROJECT 1 pants, shorts,
sweat pants, yoga pants with elastic waistband or
a drawstring. Add a matching/ coordinating top.
8PROJECT 2 Pants or skirt with a waistband and a
zipper.
9PROJECT 3 Article of clothing must have sleeves.
10PROJECT 4 Students choice.
11Students grades are based on the fact that they
sew each day when they are not learning basic
concepts. If they finish projects early, they
may make extra projects for extra credit. There
is extra fabric in the room for many projects.
12CLOTHING II, III, IV
- If students are interested in clothing, they
should take more advanced clothing courses.
13Hopefully students will learn a skill that will
continue throughout their life-time. Advanced
courses are Clothing II, III, and IV. Spring
Fashion Show you are all invited and please
encourage your children to participate. Thank

14Grading Scale for Clothing 1 Samples and Class
Work 20 Sewing Projects 25 (must have 2
projects per marking period. Lab Grade
