Outline of Debate

• In this debate you will argue which is the better
  city-state, Sparta or Athens?
• The class will be broken up into two teams Team
  Athens and Team Sparta.
• Team Athens will argue for Athens as the better
  city-state. Team Sparta will argue for Sparta as
  a better city-state.

Grading

• Debaters will be judged by the following
  criteria.
• How relevant is the argument,
• What is the quality of the supporting evidence
  for your argument,
• The clarity and logic of your presentation, and
• Your poise during your presentation
• The grade will be a combination of your
  individual performance and the overall group
  performance. THEREFORE IT IS IMPORTANT THAT ALL
  MEMBERS WORK EFFECTIVELY AS A TEAM!! Individual
  performance will be a combination of your live
  debate and a written copy of your debate part
  (ex. Opening Statement, Rebuttal, etc.), which
  you will turn in.
