I joined Pop-Up Parramatta expecting it would
offer me a basic space to work in. Instead, I was
offered a studio with character and atmosphere,
an inspiring network of fellow creative types,
and an incredibly supportive Council. Sarah

I have had the opportunity to meet some lovely
people through pop up who I consider my friends
and enjoy hanging out with. Being involved in
Pop-up in my local area is very exciting and
rewarding and has kept me positive through the
last few months that have been very
stressful. Susan Zarte Volunteer

Having a space allows me to mingle and converse
with like minded individuals going through many
of the same challenges and triumphs I am. As
freelance work can be extremely volatile it's
nice to know that I can leave the studio when I
need to. Lesley Vamos Illustrator and Graphic
designer

I just thought this is fabulous!'. Art
shouldn't be hidden. I think people are all
individuals and have different ways of
approaching art. With the tuition, I teach them
the skills of how to develop, not what to
create Mary Tamras

All my life I wanted to do something for
fashion. Before, I worked from home. But I now
have the time and place and Im just happy to do
it." Tatiana Gvodzkeva, Feltmaker, fashion

It has given me, as a newcomer to the area, an
identity in Sydney and Parramatta, a gallery
studio space I otherwise wouldn't have had, heaps
of friends other artists, Council staff,
Parramatta locals, a broadened experience in art,
new skills and enterprises and professional

Sydney world. The project gives them a centre, a
place to go as they work into their new way of

Pop Up Parramatta was overall a fantastic
opportunity to properly get our business in the
market. Low rent meant I could trial various
ideas and test the market in a way that I could
do in a commercial situation. The entrepreneurial
opportunities of the project means long term
benefit for my business in terms of refining my
business plan, marketing skills gained and
audience development.. Anna Watts, visual
artist
