Why Assemble for Worship?

• The worldly person There is no God to worship
• The religious person I can assemble at home
• The weak Christian Where does it say to
  assemble three times a week
• The strong Christian I was glad when they said
  to me let us go to the house of the Lord (Psa.
  1221)

Why Assemble for Worship?

• Gods people in Old Testament times were told to
  assemble for worship (Lev. 23 Lk. 416)
• Gods people in New Testament times were told to
  assemble for worship
• There are examples of Christians assembling
  (Acts 246 512 1212 1427 1 Cor. 54-5)
• There is a command to Christians not to forsake
  the assembling (Heb. 1025)

Why Assemble for Worship?

• Why come together? Why assemble? What good is
  accomplished?
• Could we not just sing, pray, study, take the
  Lords supper, and contribute at home or
  somewhere else?
• In the 1st century when persecution was great,
  why did Christians continue to assemble and not
  stay at home?
• There is power in assembling!

• Power of teaching (Acts 131 207) increased
  knowledge of Gods word strengthens
• Power of communion (1 Cor. 1016-17 1123-30)
  sharing the Lords supper together strengthens
• Power of edification (1 Cor. 1423-26) building
  up through worship activities strengthens
• Power of exhortation (Heb. 1024-25) stirring
  one another to love and good works strengthens

• Power of spirituality (Jn. 424 Eph. 518-21
  Col. 316) filling the inward spirit of
  man with the Holy Spirit strengthens
• Why would any mature Christian not want this
  power?
• Why would any mature Christian allow things of
  the world to rob him of this power?

The Power of Assembling( Personal Blessings )

• Pride and self-sufficiency are destroyed
• We become a better person and grow in knowledge
• We fortify ourselves against daily temptations
  and worldliness
• We grow closer to our brethren and encourage them
• We prepare ourselves for the judgment day
