The Family Lineage
  • Henry VIII had 6 wives divorce, beheaded, died,
    divorce, beheaded, and he died
  • Had 3 children Mary I (Catherine of Aragon),
    Elizabeth I (Anne Boleyn), and Edward VI (Jane
    Seymour)
  • Separating from the Roman Catholic church, Henry
    was able to divorce his first wife which led to
    the creation of the Church of England.
  • Edward VI died shortly after becoming king
  • Mary I became Queen of England and Ireland after
    her brothers death
  • Is known for her tyrannical reign as Bloody
    Mary because of her strong Roman Catholic
    beliefs
  • Elizabeth I became Queen and ruled with great
    power and dignity (known as the Golden Age of
    England)
  • King James I of England and VI of Scotland took
    the throne after Queen Elizabeth I died.

Plague History
  • Also known as Yersinia pestis
  • Bubonic an infection of the lymph nodes
  • Pneumonic plague -- an infection of the lungs
  • Septicemic plague -- an infection of the blood

The Black Death
  • Many believed that cats and dogs caused the
    plague which resulted a massacre of animals
  • Truth It was the result of fleas and their
    saliva. They feasted on black rats which
    resulted in the name The Black Death
  • Three types
  • Septicemic entered the blood and caused death
    before symptoms arose.
  • Pneumonic was caught through exposure and
    passed in 2-3 of encounter.
  • Bubonic resulted in large sores developing on
    lymph nodes (called buboes)

Basic Information
  • Plays were performed wherever they could find
    space, usually in court yards
  • First permanent theater was built in 1576 outside
    of London by James Burbage, named The Theater

    the Theater was built because of increase

    across the river

  • Tumbling Lots of movement!!!
  • Dancing most plays ended with dancing!!!
  • Elocution Words were very important!!!
  • Acting Doubled in many roles, females roles
    easily played by young boys due to the use of
    wigs and heavy makeup
  • Music Played throughout!!!
