9Joining a Forum
- At Colby, you are automatically made a member of
any class forum for which you are registered - Because membership is driven by the registration
database it is ESSENTIAL that you LOG IN - Enter the URL of your class forum

- Where nn is the forum id provided to you by
your insturctor

- News and Statistics
- Displays the current date and time, and
announcements that the Administrator has posted - Reports statistics regarding the date on which
youjoined, the average number of posts created
by you per day, and the total number of messages
you have posted in the forum - Subscriptions
- Displays all the topics or messages to which you
have subscribed - Each listed topic is hyperlinked, with details
pertaining to the number of posts in the topic
and when it was last updated - Favorites
- Displays a list of topics to which you have
identified as favorites - Each listed topic is hyperlinked, and identifies
in which category it resides - Hot Topics
- Displays a list of hot topics, including the
category in which the topic resides, the number
of posted messages within the topic, and when it
was last updated - Your Latest Messages displays a list of your
latest posted messages. You can identify the
number of messages to be viewed, and from which
category.

- A topic is a subject of discussion that appears
in a category - Also called a thread
- Topics consist of the originating message and all
its replies - Multiple topics can be created within a category

- Word communication sent by one person to another
user or multiple users - Can be the originating message that starts a new
topic or it can be a response within an existing
topic - Also called posts

41Creating a New Topic
- Login to your FuseTalk Forum
- Click on the category in which you want to create
the topic - Click the new topic tab
- Enter the message title and a brief summary of
the topic under topic summary - Enter the message in the message text box
- Click Post Message button when completed.

- Enter the topic in which you want to reply to
- Select the Reply link.

- Enter the category in which the topic/message you

- Private topics allow users to send each other
messages that can only be read by selected
recipients - Private topics can include multiple users

- Add users you wish to send your private topic to

- Enter message title, summary and message per
usual - Click Post Message

- Private Messaging allows a single user to send a
private message to another single user - Can only be read by the intended recipient
