Childhood

• Roald Dahl was born at 32 Fairwater Road in
  Llandaff,South Wales.
• He was born on Sep.13, 1916.
• His parents were Harald Dahl, and Sofie Magdalene
  Dahl.
• Dahls parents moved to Wales in the 1880s.
• He was named after Roald Amundsen, a polar
  explorer.

Tragedy Strikes

• In 1920, when Dahl was 3, seven-year-old Astri
  died of appendicitis.
• A month later, Dahls father died of pneumonia.

• Dahl attended The Cathedral School.
• At the age of 8, he and his friends were caned by
  the headmaster after putting a dead mouse in a
  jar of sweets at a sweet shop.
• Dahl was then sent to several boarding schools in
  England.
