    understand their importance for tourism
  • 2.     Understand the importance of religion in
    everyday life and its effect on tourism in the
    region
  • 3.      Recognise the great economic and social
    contrasts within the region
  • 4.      Show that inbound tourism is being
    encouraged by most of the countries in the
    region to provide foreign exchange and
    employment
  • 5.      Recognise that the tourist appeal of the
    Indian subcontinent for the West lies in the
    exotic cultures of its peoples, as well as the
    familiar resources of beach tourism
