  • How many of you have consistent styles in
    different contexts?
  • For those who changed styles, what is it that
caused you to behave differently from one style
    to the next?

22
PowerPoint Summary of Conflict Styles

Revisiting flexibility
PowerPoint Summary of Conflict Styles
  • Though consistency has its benefits, flexibility
    has many more.
  • It empowers you to make a choice, and adapt to
    the situation.
  • If you know which styles work best when, and with
whom, you will be much more able to make the most
    of conflict situations.

24

Consider competition
  • Individually (write down for yourself)
  • Make a list of some of the competitive
experiences you have had that you would consider
    fun and/or beneficial.

    same way?

26
PowerPoint Summary of Conflict Styles
Consider competition
  • Does competition build or harm character?
  • How does winning and losing contribute to
    character and identity?
  • How does self esteem relate to this? (How does
self-esteem affect conflict and prospects for
    conflict resolution?)

27
PowerPoint Summary of Conflict Styles
Consider competition
  • Why might it be beneficial to bolster the esteem
of the other party to a conflict?
  • Would you be willing to do so? Why or why not?
  • If you wanted to, how would you go about doing
    it?

28
