Interactivity Can we engage learners by
building in interactivity?What is interactivity?
my definition would be anything that learners
have to click on to make a choice or
decision. An easy example of this is the Beginner
Improver Power User choice in this
presentation.

- Using Action Buttons.
- These link the user to other places in the
resource e.g. forward , back, last slide viewed,
beginning, end, etc. The home button below is
one. Click on more to see an example of how this
can be used for TL using ICTAC.
Hopefully most of these are self explanatory but
if not you can see what the action is when you
draw the shape on the slide.
Auto Shapes - Action Buttons These are objects
that when clicked on take the user to another
place in the presentation. When these are drawn
into your presentation they have hyperlinks
already built in. A dialogue box will pop up to
tell you what the action is.
Check out the home button bottom left of each
slide in this presentation
Normally when you click anywhere the slide moves
on one. To disable this you need to set up the
slide show differently Slide Show menu / Set up

- AIM Learn how to use Hyperlinks to introduce
interactivity. - Anything you click on that takes you somewhere
else is probably a hyperlink. - Hyperlinks can be easily applied to most objects
in ppt. images, text, auto shapes - Hyperlinks can take you to other slides in the
same resource or to other presentations. They can
take you to places on the www. Or can open other
files (e.g. Word, video, audio, etc.)
- To turn anything to a hyperlink
- Select it
- CtrlK or Right Click / Hyperlink
- Choose from place in document or other file,
etc. - Navigate to the file you want to open (if
relevant) - or type in url for a web address link.
You can make it appear that hyperlinking makes an
object appear by using duplicate slides Click
here to see the next slide It should look like an
image of the hyperlink window pops up over this
text box.
The hyperlink on this more button will take you
to the starter example that uses a link to an
audio file (you can see this in assets folder)
and links to other slides. When you are bored
with it press escape to return to this slide

- AIM Understand how Animation is the other aspect
of interactivity in PowerPoint. - If you like logical puzzles then you can create
some pretty clever stuff. - On a simple level use it to reveal information on
screen for the user. - Using triggers takes animation to a whole new
level (a trigger can be anything you click on to
start an animation) - Sequences of animations can get complex. Try to
outwit PowerPoint! - To get in to it right click / custom animation.
- Our PowerPoint resources make use of
these tricks to make them interactive. (a
series of starters including various reveals and
some true / false quizes). Uses entrance
animation for reveals and triggers to entrance
the smileys on the true/false quiz. (Smileys are
in auto shapes) - Find the Notes a simple game for less able
students. Using a mixture of entrance and exit
animations but involving use of how objects are
ordered. The letters are there all of the time
they arent animated the keys are behind and in
front. Clicking on one makes it fade out quickly
but the effect is that the letter appears.
