Staff

• Employers need to ensure their staff are safe
  from intruders
• Access to certain areas may be restricted
• A number of security measures can be put in place
  
• Intercom at the front entrance can control and
  monitor who gains entry into the building
• Security doors with pin codes or swipe passes at
  the entrance and around the building
• Staff have ID badges so people know who they are

Visitors

• Visitors must be feel welcomed but the
  organisation needs to make sure they are genuine
  visitors so
• The reception should always be staffed and should
  be at the main entrance
• All visitors should report to reception they
  should sign in and receive a visitors pass
• Visitors passes should be worn at all times so
  people know they are visitors
• A visitor should sign in so there is a record of
  their visit and in the event of a fire
• Visitors should return their passes and sign out
  when leaving the building

IT

• The following precautions can be taken
• Locks on filing cabinets, rooms and computers
  can be locked too
• Passwords should be issued to staff and changed
  regularly
• Read-only files these can be read by all but
  only changed by the person who created the
  document
• Anti-virus software installed and regularly
  updated to ensure systems are safe
• Serial number registration each machine will
  have a serial number they should be recorded to
  help with identification if stolen
• Ultraviolet pens can be used to mark the
  company details on equipment and can help
  identify it if stolen.
