• Typically Non Fiction Biography or newspaper

• 30 Marks
• 1 hour
• Critical Essay
• Two essays on two different genres
• 25 marks each essay
• 1 h 30 min
• Same format for prelim in term two.

• 20 of final award
• 2 pieces of writing
• 1 broadly creative, 1 broadly discursive
• Final drafts under test conditions

• Based entirely on external assessment.
• Close Reading 40
• Critical Essay 40
• Writing Folio 20

• Unit One Language Study
• Close Reading
• Writing (1 piece) Redrafted for folio
• Unit Two Literary Study
• Textual Analysis (poetry, drama, prose)

• All internal units must be passed

• May (SQA) exam must be passed
