What is Chemistry?
Chemistry is the study of matter and how matter
changes.

Matter is what everything is made of stuff,
material (it has mass and takes up space)

How can we tell one type of matter from
another?

Scientists broke all matter into its smallest
parts-- ATOMS!
each type of atom is called an ELEMENT and has a
unique weight to identify it.

When the atoms are arranged in order of weight
and properties, they form the Periodic Table!

Depending on how the elements are combined and
arranged, we get different materials.
Meat and vegetables are made out of the same
elements! (mostly CHON)
