  • How to put together a resume and alter it for a
    cleaner and descriptive resume

Make a list
  • Take out a piece of paper
  • Write down what jobs and volunteer work you've
    previously had before. Include when you were
    employed.
  • Ex Worked at Taco Bell (Jan. 2010-March 2011)
  • Ex Volunteered at Pomona Valley Hospital (March
    2011 - Present)
  • Write down what skills you've acquired
  • Ex Cash register use
  • Ex Microsoft Office use

Make a list
  • Write down your personal attributes
  • Ex independent, punctual, etc.
  • Write down where and when you went to school.
    Starting with high school.
  • Ex Centennial High School, Bakersfield, CA
    2004-2008
  • Ex California State Polytechnic University
    Pomona. 2008-present
  • Make sure you spell out the entire school name

Personal Characteristics
  • Always positive characteristics!!
  • Use words that you already know the meaning to
  • Include being able to work with others
  • Group settings
  • Projects
  • Good characteristics to put
  • Punctual, independent, personable, etc.

Things to Remember!
  • You have 30 seconds to impress your employer!
  • You have to impress from the VERY beginning.
  • Use an active voice
  • Facilitated resume workshop sounds more
    impressive than Resume Workshop Facilitator
  • Include results when describing your positions
    Increased club's account balance by 50
  • Assume you will get searched for on the internet!
  • If your resume is inconsistent with your social
    networks, things will not bode well for you.
