• Symphony System requirements
• Operating System Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Mac
  OS X (10.4 or higher on Intel or Power PC
• Computer Minumum 700 MHz Suggested 1GHz
• RAM Minimum 512 MB Suggested 2 GB
• Disk Space 100 MB
• Monitor 1024X768 or better
• Currently, Grizzly School Districts network
  capabilites exceed all minumum requirements.

Circulation

• Based on barcodes
• Use of dummy barcodes which can be used for
  multiple functions throughout the school
• Simple check out procedure
• Administrative functions such as placing holds
  and managing renewals and overdue materials are
  easily managed.
• Mobile workstation option

Patron maintenance

• Very user-friendly
• Patrons can be searched by ID number, email, home
  phone, name, or homeroom
• Automatic patron update each night
• New User Wizard
• Privledge suspension Wizard to define overdue
  policies

Cataloging

• Very user-friendly, especially if part of a
  consortium
• Supports multiple MARC and non-MARC formats in
  the database
• Records can be uploaded from other databases
• OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) can be
  accessed from remote computers
• Spelling specific
• Well-defined search parameters
• Option for placing holds or renewing books from
  home

Reports

• Director Station with dashboard
• Reports document specific needs of the library,
  and help the librarians identify which materials
  should be weeded from the collection

• WEAKNESSES
• Are difficult to extract bibliographic data
• Have problems in digitizing items such as OCLC
  numbers
• Show inconsistent data when using pipe-delimited
  results with repeating fields
• Are not always inclusive in spreadsheet use

• Have varied formats
• Are user-friendly
• Assist with budget requests
• Assist with weeding collection
• Show usage stats for specific items
