THE CALL TO WORSHIP From Psalm 24 Lift up your
heads, O you gates BE LIFTED UP, YOU ANCIENT
DOORS, So the King of glory may come in. WHO IS
THIS KING OF GLORY? The Lord strong and
mighty, HE IS THE KING OF GLORY!
10
THE OPENING HYMN 300 ALL GLORY, LAUD AND
HONOR
11
All glory, laud and honor, (1) to You Redeemer
King, To whom the lips of children, made sweet
hosannas ring You are the King of Israel, and
Davids royal son, now in the Lords name
coming, The King and Blessed One!
12
The company of angels (2) is praising You on
high, And we with all creation in chorus make
reply. The people of the Hebrews with palms
before You went. Our praise and prayer and
anthems Before You we present.
13
To You before Your passion, (3) They sang their
hymns of praise To You, now high exalted, Our
melody we raise You did accept their
praises, Accept the praise we bring, All glory,
laud and honor, O good and gracious King!
14
SILENT PRAYERS OF THANKSGIVING AND
CONFESSION THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON Isaiah
535-6   He was wounded for our transgressions
He was bruised for our iniquities The
chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with
His stripes we are healed. All we, like sheep
have gone astray We have turned every one to his
own way And the Lord has laid on Him the
iniquity of us all.
15
AFFIRMING OUR FAITH WITH THE FIRST QUESTION AND
ANSWER OF THE HEIDELBERG CATECHISM 1563 WHAT
IS YOUR ONLY COMFORT, IN LIFE AND IN DEATH?
16
Answer That I belong, body and soul, in life
and in death, not to myself, but to my faithful
Savior, Jesus Christ, Who at the cost of His own
blood has fully paid for all my sins, and has
completely freed me from the dominion of the
devil
17
That He protects me so well that, without the
will of my Father in heaven, not a hair can fall
from my head indeed, that everything must fit
His purpose for my salvation.
18
Therefore, by His Holy Spirit, He also assures
me of eternal life, and makes me
wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on, to
live for Him.

THE HOLY SCRIPTURE Luke 1928-38 Elder Neil Van
Der Jagt After Jesus had said this, that is
the telling of a Parable He went on ahead, going
up to Jerusalem. When He had come near Bethphage
and Bethany, at the place called the Mount of
Olives, He sent TWO of the disciples, saying, Go
into the village ahead of you, and as you enter
it you will find tied there a colt that has never
been ridden. Untie it and bring it here.
24
If anyone asks you, Why are you untying it?
just say this, the Lord has need of it. So the
TWO who were sent departed and found the colt as
Jesus had told them. As they were untying the
colt, its owners asked them, Why are you untying
the colt? They said, The Lord has need of it.
Then they brought the colt to Jesus and after
throwing their cloaks on the colt, they set Jesus
on it. As He rode along, the people kept
spreading their cloaks on the road.
25
As He was now approaching the path down from the
Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the
disciples began to praise God joyfully with a
loud voice for all the deeds of power that they
had seen, saying, Blessed is the King who comes
in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and
glory in the highest heaven!
26
THE SONG OF PREPARATION 297 HOSANNA, LOUD
HOSANNA
27
Hosanna, loud hosanna, (1) the little children
sang Through pillared court and temple the
lovely anthem rang. To Jesus, who had blessed
them close folded to His breast, The children
sang their praises, the simplest and the best.
28
From Olivet they followed (2) mid an exultant
crowd, The victor palm branch waving, and
chanting clear and loud. The Lord of men and
angels rode on in lowly state, Nor scorned that
little children should on His bidding wait.
29
Hosanna in the highest! (3) that ancient song
we sing, For Christ is our Redeemer, the Lord of
heaven our King. O may we ever praise Him with
heart and life and voice, And in His blissful
presence eternally rejoice!

THE CLOSING HYMN 327 THE OLD RUGGED CROSS

43
(1) On a hill far away stood an old rugged
cross, The emblem of suffring and shame And I
love that old cross where the dearest and
best For a world of lost sinners was slain. So
Ill cherish the old rugged cross, Till my
trophies at last I lay down I will cling to the
old rugged cross, And exchange it some day for a
crown.
44
(2) Oh, that old rugged cross, so despised by the
world, Has a wondrous attraction for me For the
dear Lamb of God left His glory above To bear it
to dark Calvary. So Ill cherish the old rugged
cross, Till my trophies at last I lay down I
will cling to the old rugged cross, And exchange
it some day for a crown.
45
(3) In that old rugged cross, stained with blood
so divine, A wondrous beauty I see, For twas on
that old cross Jesus suffered and died, To pardon
and sanctify me. So Ill cherish the old rugged
cross, Till my trophies at last I lay down I
will cling to the old rugged cross, And exchange
it some day for a crown.
46
(4) To the old rugged cross I will ever be
true Its shame and reproach gladly bear Then
Hell call me some day to my home far away, Where
His glory forever Ill share. So Ill cherish
the old rugged cross, Till my trophies at last I
lay down I will cling to the old rugged
cross, And exchange it some day for a crown.
