Clean draft 1 25 minutes
  • Choose a partner.
  • Trade speeches.
  • Read each others speeches and jot down a few
    notes on the speakers purpose.
  • Read each others essays. paragraphs that are
    insightful and that give an excellent discussion
    of what the author did and why he/she did it.
  • Discuss sections of the speech your partner may
    have failed to discuss or sections that your
    partner misunderstood.
  • Discuss sections of the essay that were
    excellent.
  • Discuss sections of the essay that need more
    analysis or a more thorough explanation.

  • Choose a partner.
  • Trade speeches.

  • Look at the text you used in your essay. Did you
    lead into it?
  • Ex. Dr. King discusses the great beacon of
    light as a metaphor for hope.
  • Ex. His point is made obvious with a no nonsense
    declaration the American high school is
    obsolete and should be abolished (153).
  • No sentence should begin with a citation/
  • Put periods and commas inside quotation marks.
  • Read from back to front. Check for run-on
    sentences. Check for missing commas. After he
    says_____, he continues by claiming __________.
