  • Originally Samuel was one book. Later it was
    divided into 1 and 2 Samuel
  • The leading figure in 1Samuel is Samuel himself.
  • The leading figure in 2Samuel is David who will
    become King

  • One of the most significant contributions to the
    Old Testament is found in 2Samuel 17. This is the
    prophecy of Nathan.
  • In this prophecy David is promised an eternal
    dynasty which will be understood as a promise for
    a Messiah from the House of David.

  • Originally one book
  • Continue the history of Israel from Samuel to the
    destruction of Jerusalem in 587 B.C.
  • The Books of Kings traces the short-lived
    Israelite Kingdom from the building of the temple
    to the fall of Jerusalem.

    kings. Above all it teaches that the Kings
    faithfulness to God is crucial to the life of all
    of Israel.

    starts out well but ends in disobedience to God
    and finally suicide.
