  • (1) IEEE Region 10 Milestone Award
  • The IEEE Milestones in Electrical
    Engineering and Computing Program recognizes
    achievements in all IEEE fields. Currently there
    are more than 60 Milestones around the World,
    among which the number of Milestones in Region 10
    is only six, as follows.

Tokyo Section Mount Fuji Radar System, 1964 (March 2000)
Nagoya Section Tokaido Shinkansen (Bullet Train) 1964 (July 2000)

  • The necessity for an achievement to be an IEEE
    Milestone is
  • - it must be at least 25 years old,
  • - it must have involved a unique solution to
    an engineering problem, and
  • - it must have had at least regional impact.
  • The necessity for the Region 10 Milestone Award
  • will be
  • - it must be at least 20 years old,
  • - it must have involved a unique solution to an
    engineering problem, and
  • - it must have had at least regional impact.
  • Budget 1,500 US

  • (2) IEEE Region 10 Academia-Industry Partnership
    Award for outstanding academia-industry
    collaboration which has contributed to
    revolutionary technology progress.
  • Although our Committee is now discussing
    the details of this Award, we would like to
    encourage Sections and Councils to seek such
    candidates.
