• No major change
• More machines and GB like everywhere
• Efforts concentrated on SAN deployment

Server Software Updates

• Linux 7.2 (kernel 2.4.18) completed
• Started a monitoring project based on Nagios
• Nagios presented by INFN at last meeting
• Robust collection mechanism/infrastructure
• Development of user oriented view of the
  ressources (Web-based)

Mail Service

• Still based on Sendmail IMAP
• Virus/Spam filtering project just started
• Filtering based on message headers criteria
  rather than contents, using Sendmail milter API
• More efficient than antivirus, preserve Sendmail
  advanced features
• Most viruses can be detected by attachment types
• Heuristic can be applied to detect spammers
• Restrict relaying with authenticated SMTP
• Upgrade IMAP server to Cyrus v2
• Interested by any experience with Cyrus v2

Windows Infrastructure

• Desktops
• Windows XP deployment on new laptops
• Server
• Replacement of old unattended installation
  infrastructure by W2K RIS (PXE based)
• CERN PrinterWizzard in production
• Works pretty well
• Two main issues
• Handling of drivers for some printer types
• Ability to use PrinterWizzard at LAL and at CERN
