• Earth has many interesting landforms. Lets take
  a look at them!

Fjord

• A narrow body of water that lies between two
  rocky coasts in Norway.

Mountain Range

• This is an example of a Mountain Range. It is a
  series of interconnected mountains forming a
  distinct group

Glacier

• An example of a glacier in Antarctica. It is ice
  and compacted snow that moves slowly.

Valley

• A low area between mountains is called a valley

Island

• An island is completely surrounded by water.

Sea

• A great body of salt water that covers a large
  portion of the earth.

Hills

• Hill s an area of land that is higher than the
  surrounding land, but not as high as a mountain.

Canyon

• Canyons a steep narrow valley with deep sides
  often with a stream running through it.

Plateaua high flat land with a fairly level
surface.

Bay an area of sea enclosed by a wide curving
coastline.

Lake

• A large body of water surrounded by land.

• Rivers usually start out as a natural stream of
  water that flows through land and empties into an
  ocean or a lake.

• Plains are very flat!

• Delta is a flat, wide area at the mouth of a
  river.

• An island is and area of land, smaller than a
  continent that is completely surrounded by water.

• A basin is an area of land that is drained by a
  river and its tributaries.

• This is Akashi Strait. A strait is a narrow body
  of water that joins two larger bodies of water.

• A Gulf is a larger body of water surrounded by
  land.

• A peninsula is surrounded by water on three
  sides.
