  • I only went to be nosy. I just went to see what
was going on and before I knew what had happened
I was in the thick of it. I went Friday,
Saturday, went back Sunday for an hour or two and
then Monday night as well. I thought it was
    brilliant.
  • Donna Fallows, local resident, West Silvertown
  • Theres a lot of loose talk about community
participation, consultative processes and so on,
but its far from clear that people understand
what this means. This guide is invaluable,
defining the scene, providing contacts, and
shedding light on what is an increasingly
    important aspect of delivering sustainable
    development at the local level.
  • Jonathon Porritt
  • For me, the future search conference was a

  • Jane Yeadon, local resident, Forres, Moray,
    Scotland
  • We will also consider how to encourage public
participation in decision making ... involving
local communities in identifying problems and
opportunities ... and in taking action for
    change.
  • From Opportunities for change, the government
    consultation paper on sustainable development
