Title: The Pain of Divorce

1
The Pain of Divorce
on Children
2
The Pain of Divorce on Children
  • Insecurity
    (nightmares, fear of abandonment
    isolation)
  • Forced into carrying adult responsibilities
    (work, cook, babysit, taxi, etc.)
  • Unresolved anger
    (bitterness, resentment, and animosity)
  • Guilt (blame themselves)

3
The Pain of Divorce on Children
  • More likely to be Rebellious
    (drug or
alcohol abuse, sexual immorality, and even
    violence)
  • More likely to Fail in Relationships
    (friendship, courtship,
    marriage)
  • Much more likely to be a Stumbling Block to their
    Faith
(abusing the other spouse or the
    children)

4
The Blessings of Faithfulness
  • Instead of being insecure, children can have
peace in their heart as they are more likely to
    not be afraid of evil.
    (Deut. 66-9 Pr. 133 Phil. 46-7 Col.
    315).
  • Instead of having to grow up too fast with adult
responsibilities, children are more likely to be
able to enjoy their life and remember their
    Creator (Eccl. 119-121).
  • Instead of feeling guilty for their parents
choice, they are more likely to have a good
    conscience (1 Tim. 15 Pr. 322-26)

5
The Blessings of Faithfulness
  • Instead of rebellion, you are much more likely to
have disciplined children who can discern good
    from evil (Hebrews 125-11 514).
  • Instead of enduring through failed relationships,
your children are much more likely to marry
    faithful Christians.
    (Proverbs 3128ff Ephesians
    51-2, 22ff)
  • Instead of being a stumbling block to their faith
you can encourage them toward love and good
    deeds.
    (1 John 316 419 Heb. 1023-24
    137).
