• The first generation of the century not to have
  experienced a world war or the Great Depression
• Vietnam War, Watergate, the growing impact of
  television
• Caught in the middle of civil rights movement,

• Optimistic, concerned about health, dedicated to
  their work

• Rovers landed on Mars
• Growth in single-parent homes
• Widespread use of computers

• The first recent generation to worry about
  pensions and Social Security
• Informal, self-reliant, technologically literate,

THE MILLENNIALSBorn between 1982 and 2003

• The fourth generation out from the GI Generation
• They are or will be committed to solving the
  problems of the world and dealing with
  injustices.
• Many will benefit from the greatest transference
  of wealth into history.
• Also known as Generation Y, the Echo Boomers, Gen
  Tech, Dot Com, Nexters
• Confident, sociable, moral, street smart,
  optimistic, accepting diversity, civic minded

Millennials have experienced the multicultural
society

• Individual identity is important
• Have seen a rise in violence and terrorism
• Concerns include child abuse, drinking and
  driving, prejudice or racism, education, nuclear
  warfare, gay rights, terrorism, womens rights,
  animal rights, unplanned pregnancy, unemployment,
  homelessness

• Will grow up experiencing and hearing stories
  about the chaotic decades that preceded them and
  feel a need to ease worldwide tensions.
• Commitment to cutting their losses and
  consolidating their gains
