• How do you subtract fractions with unlike
  denominators?

• Subtracting fractions is similar to adding
  fractions. If the fractions have unlike
  denominators (different-sized parts), change the
  fractions to equivalent fractions with the same
  denominators (same-sized parts). Then, you can
  add or subtract the numerators (number of parts).
