4Where can we find elements of Manueline Art in
Évora ?
The Garcia de Resende window is a magnificent
exemplar of Manueline Art. Garcia de Resende was
a poet, musician, architect and cronist of King
D. Manuel.
5The Mouras Gate Square. Delicate work of
Manueline-Mudejar style. The fountain is shaped
like a spherical pyx.
House Cordovil is a private home which has
magnificent manueline arcades.
6In the window of Dukes of Cadaval Palace, there
are also visible symbols of the Manueline
architectural period which has Mudejar influence.
Saint Francis Church dates from the period of the
last monarchs of the Avis dynasty, and it is one
of the most extraordinary churches of the
Gothic-Manueline style in our country.
7Palace of D. Manuel (Gallery of The Ladies),
preserving an arcade and a wing of geminate
windows in the Manueline-Mudejar style. There
lived the Kings of the Avis dynasty. And there
Gil Vicente, the founder of the Portuguese
Theatre, acted some of his famous plays.
