Title: Moral Relativism: A Rich man

1
Moral RelativismA Rich mans excuse
  • By Nick Grear

2
What is Moral Relativism?
  • Morel Relativism is the belief that our morals
    are not universal and objective.
  • A Morel Relativist believes that they are
subjective and are depend on personal conditions.

3
This has been a much debated topic over Human
history. Many have trued to discover the truth
4
Bernard Williams (1929 2003)
  • Mr. Williams came to the conclusion, after much
deliberation, that concepts such as Good Bad
and Right Wrong do not strain from universal
concepts. They depend on each culture and
    individual

5
Rudolph Carnap (1891 1970) and A. J. Ayer (1910
1989)
  • These Positivists believe that a proposition must
be logically justify to be valid.
  • As a morel proposition can not be justified
    logically, they are meaningless

6
Karl Marx (1818 1883)
  • Marx believe that it was obvious that morels are
subjective. He believed that the morel code of a
culture, is determined by the means in which the
culture came to this point and what the
    socioeconomic ruling class believe. Therefore
    there is no universal morality.

7
Friedrich Nietzsche
  • Nietzsche believed that morality was an error in
essence. He believe that they are barriers that
prevent ones true self. He believed that the only
way to be true would be to do away with morality
and live on ones instinct and natural needs. Thus
he believed in an subjective morality.

8
Many cultures and individuals have disagreed with
subjective morality over the years more so than
those agreeing
9
Holocaust
  • Many Morel Objectivist use historical events such
as the Holocaust as a way of destroying
    relativism.
  • A majority of humanity disagree with the act
however from a Morel Relativist point of view
this is just these peoples believe and thus has
    there own justification.

10
God
  • The concept of a God or gods is one of the most
vicious critics of Moral Relativism as the whole
structure of the religion is based around a
holy set of moral code. How can a God justify a
heaven, hell a right or wrong when all may have
there own beliefs and it doesnt matter. Where is
the appeal in that kind of religion?

11
Evidence for Moral Relativism truth
  • You and I
  • We all have different morals. Although we may all
have the same base structure, this is in many
cases just a compromise for the continued
    existence of society.
  • Morel Relativism is much more logical and
    sagacious than a universal morality

12
Morality is one of the most debated topic of
humanity however one can only make up there own
opinion
  • (Is this not moral relativism?!)
