Review
  • You need to know the following vocab words
  • Motion
  • Reference Point
  • Speed
  • Velocity
  • Acceleration
  • Force

3
Balanced Forces
  • Equal and opposite force on an object that
results in NO change in motion or direction

4
Unbalanced Forces
  • Unequal and opposite forces on an object results
in a change of motion in the direction of the
    larger force

5
Newtons First Law
  • An object in motion will stay in motion unless
acted upon by an unbalanced force
  • An object at rest will remain at rest unless it
is acted upon by an unbalanced force

6
Newtons 2nd Law
  • The net force on an object is equal to the mass
of the object multiplied by its acceleration
  • Force Mass x Acceleration
  • The more force on an object, the more it will
accelerate. The more mass an object has the more
    it will resist acceleration.
  • Acceleration cannot occur without a force.

7
Newtons 3rd Law
  • For every action there is an opposite and equal
    reaction.
  • The same force acting on two different masses
results in less acceleration of the larger mass
    than on the smaller mass.

8
Work
  • When you exert a force on an object that causes
    it to move.
  • Work Force x Distance

9
Potential Energy
  • The energy stored in an object waiting to be
    released
  • The higher an object is above ground the greater
    the potential energy

10
Kinetic Energy
  • The energy of a moving object
  • The amount an object has depends on the mass and
    velocity.
  • Kinetic Energy Mass x Velocity2
  • 2
