La Martorana Church

• Founded in 1143 by George of Antioch, an admiral
  of Roger II in Aragonese age
• was given to the Benedictine monastery founded by
  Eloisa Martorana.
• This became known for the preparation of marzipan
  fruits. Inside the church
• are magnificent Byzantine mosaics.
