52 Obstacles
Armstrong, along with pilot Stan Butchart,
reacted coolly, testing the bomber's controls.
Butchart's were gone, but Armstrong still had
some flight control linkage, so together they
prepared the aircraft for an emergency landing.
They had been trying unsuccessfully for some time
to feather the number four propeller. Seconds
before the disintegration, they had jettisoned
the D-558-II Skyrocket research craft with pilot
Jack McKay aboard to land early, due to a stuck
valve on the Skyrocket, as well as the large
workload the propeller problem presented.
- Two Obstacles the protagonist had to overcome and
what these two events say about the characters
personality and purpose.
"In those days space flight was not generally
regarded as a realistic objective, and it was a
bit pie-in-the-sky. So although we were working
toward that end, it was not something that we
acknowledged much publicly,"
61 Conclusion Paragraph
Neil Armstrong is looked up to for his
achievements and these three traits courage,
determination and adventurousness. These traits
were important to him because he would not have
been as successful as he was without them. He is
an American hero because he helped our country
catch up with Russia in space exploration. When I
see a jet up in the sky, I will always think of
Neil Armstrong.
- Your own conclusion about the impact the subject
had on American society.
Neil Armstrongs life taught me that any goal can
be reached if we work hard, work together, are
determined and not afraid to take responsible
risks. His important contributions to our country
and to the world make me proud to be an American.
He is my hero.
