The study on meso-scale convection system and
heavy rainfall had been made affirmative progress
after The third International Conference on Heavy
Rainfall/ Snowfall in East Asia (ICMCS) which was
held in Tokyo, Japan, in Oct. 2002, through the
international cooperation. After the discussion
between the scientists in the countries of east
Asia, the fourth International Conference on
Mesoscale Convective System and Heavy Rainfall in
East Asia will be held in Nov. 2004, for
enhancing the cooperation among east Asia
countries in such research area. Experts from
east Asia countries and other regions will be
welcome to attend the conference.

3.Topics (1) Study on three-dimensional structure
of mesoscale severe convective system and its
evolution. (2) Study on physics and dynamic
processes (including topographic effect)
associated with formation and development of
mesoscale severe convective systems. (3) Study on
quantification of remote technique to explore the
structure of mesoscale severe convective system
and its evolution, by using meteorological
satellite, radar, GPS etc. (4) Application of the
method to utilize and assimilate various observed
data on heavy rainfall and other mesoscale
systems. (5) The development of mesoscale
numerical prediction models and the application
on heavy rainfall as well as other high impact
weather prediction and simulation.
