3Social Explorer provides easy access to
demographic information about the United States
from 1790 to the present.
It features over 15,000 interactive data maps and
reports, as well as a full-featured reporting
engine that makes demographic research fast, easy
and comprehensive.
4Social Explorer also provides historical census
data that is hard to obtain or requires extensive
processing to make use of.
It takes this data and makes it easy to use.
5You can easily generate a map of census data.
6You can zoom in to a particular area.
This map shows unemployment across the United
States in 1980.
7Then change the date,
As well as looking at data from one particular
census, it is easy to build a slideshow showing
how one aspect, such as urban population, changed
over time.
Click on the slide holder at the bottom to save
the current map.
8and repeat the process.
9You can also export the slideshow to PowerPoint.
In this way, you can build up a slideshow of, for
example, the growth of the urban population in
the nineteenth century.
These controls allow you to play the slideshow
faster or slower in the main panel.
