What is an Early College High School?

• Early College High Schools (ECHS) combina la
  escuela preparatoria tradicional y la universidad
  superior en un solo programa educacional.

• Early College High Schools (ECHS) blend the
  traditional high school and college into one
  educational program.

ECHS is a State Initiative

• 47 ECHSs in Texas and over 190 in the United
  States.
• Brownsville Independent School district has been
  awarded 5 wall-to-wall ECHSs plus one small
  community ECHS BECHS, bringing our total to 6.
• Texas Southmost College has agreed to be our
  partner for the 5 new Early College High Schools
  and UTB will remain the partner for BECHS, our
  current ECHS

• 47 ECHS en el estado de Texas y más de 190 en los
  Estados Unidos.

Early College High School Design

• 5 ECHS Zoned wall-to-wall model
• BECHS 100-120 will be admitted every year. This
  is the model they will continue to use.

• Las 5 ECHS van a elegir todo el que este en la
  zona escolar.

Academic Commitment

• Los estudiantes en ECHS tienen un currículo
  riguroso de cursos Pre-AP que los preparará para
  un currículo universitario completo durante sus
  grados 11o y 12o. Estudiantes de grados 9º y 10
  toman sus electivos o si son elegibles también
  Algebra. Nuestros estudiantes deben de aplicar
  tiempo extra para sus estudios.

• Students in Early College High Schools take a
  rigorous curriculum of Pre-AP high school courses
  to prepare them for a full college curriculum in
  their 11th and 12th grade years. 9th and 10th
  graders take college electives or if eligible
  College Algebra. Our students must devote
  significant amounts of time to their school work.
