  • When do we use the Past Perfect?
  • When 2 or more things happened in the past and we
    want to explain which of them happened first in
    the past.
  • When we arrived at the airport, the flight had
    already left.
  • What ever happened first is where we use the past
    perfect tense.

  • The main use of the Past Perfect Continuous is
    to express actions or situations that were in
    progress before some other actions or situations.
  • The boys had been sleeping for half an hour
    when we arrived home.
  • I had been dating Michelle for 3 years before
    we got married.
