  • NASA created Oct 1,1958.
  • Dr Robert H. Goddard rocket pioneer.
  • Many firsts in his career starting in 1912.
  • X-1 Air Plane first to break sound barrier.
  • Yeager, fastest man in the world on Oct 14 1947.
  • Research from X-1 flights would aid NASA
    scientist.

  • Sputnik 1 - Communist in space 1957.
  • Social and political impact on America.
  • Start of Public space race with the Russians.
  • German science group led by Dr. Wernher Von Braun
    transferred to NASA 1958.
  • Public confidence down after Yuri Gagarin 1961.

    earth.

  • Famous Apollo moon mission was on 7/20/69.
  • That day man set his first foot on the moon.

    after lift off.

  • A portion of foam from lift-off struck orbiters
    left wing resulting in damage to the wing, which
    caused the vehicle to break apart during
    re-entry.
