Lots of Location
  • Deserts on Earth are located between 30 degrees
    latitude north and 30 degrees latitude south.
  • Deserts are located on the continents of North
    America, Australia, Africa, and Asia.
  • The five largest desert include the Sahara, Gobi,
    Kalahari, Great Victoria, and the Great Sandy.

Hot Day, Cool Night
Hot Days, Cold Nights -During the day the
temperature excels to to 100 degrees F. -At night
the temperature drops down to the 40s and 50s
degrees F. -There are actually two different
types of desert. They are HOT DESERT and COLD
DESERT. -They hot deserts main precipitation is
rain, but they still get less than 25cm. -The
Cold Desert is colder than the hot desert and
they main precipitation is snow.

-Deserts are the driest biome on earth. -They
receive less than 10 in. per year! -Even the
wettest deserts get less than 25 cm per year!

  • Desert animals have to be able to survive in
    harsh climates.
  • Desert animal include the addax, Cactus Wren,
    Desert Lark, Dingo, Fat Sand Rat, Fennec Fox,
    Gila Monster, Great Jerboa, Great Mouse Tailed
    Rat, Lappet-face Vulture, Sidewinder, and the
    Thorny Devil.

  • Plants that survive the desert include Saguaro,
    Barrel Cactus, Old Man Cactus, Prickly Pear
    Cactus, Dragon Tree, Fish Hook Cactus, Ocotillo,
    Desert Spoon,Aloe, Joshua Tree, and Yucca.
  • Plants that live in the desert have to adapt to
    the hot desert climate.
