Title: The Peregrine Falcon

1
The Peregrine Falcon
  • Harry Carr

2
Introduction
  • Falcons are used for many things, such as
hunting. But they are also endangered. The
Peregrine Falcon is the fastest kind of falcon,
at 150 mph when it dives.

3
Physical Description
  • Important characteristics of the Peregrine Falcon
are pointed wings, which help it fly faster, and
a black-tipped beak. Other characteristics are
    brown feathers and sharp talons.

4
Habitat
  • Preferred habitats of the Peregrine are in trees
or cliffs near fresh water, and in the woods.

5
Food Chain
  • The Peregrine eats pigeons, kestrel, and
songbirds, but is eaten by European Eagle Owls
    and American Great Horned Owls.

6
Life Cycle
  • The Peregrine, like most birds, starts as an egg,
which takes 28-38 days to hatch. After that
amount of time, the egg will hatch into a chick.
The chick takes approx. 20 years to become an
    adult, which will lay eggs.

7
Conclusion
  • I guess its time to tell you why Peregrines are
endangered. The answer to this question is loss
of their habitat. I hope you learned a lot about
    the Peregrine Falcon.
