Availability
  • My daily work hours are 715 a.m. 530 p.m.
  • I routinely check email before and after school
  • Help Sessions- Mon. and Wed. 330-430 p.m. and
most mornings (by appt., but not on test days)
  • I will be here for all WEBs (unless I have duty)
  • Students should seek out my help BEFORE test
days. It is not possible compress an entire unit
down to a 15 minute session the morning of a
test. Department policy restricts help the day
    of a test.

3
Weekly Lessons
  • Each Monday morning, students are given a lesson
sheet which includes assignments for each night
(these are also available on my blog)
  • This is all they need for keeping up if they are
    out
  • Sometimes, I will direct students to appropriate
    websites to assist them
  • A useful website is PhET at University of
    Colorado at Boulder
  • Absent students or students with questions may
    email me before 530 pm
  • Class information available on my BLOG on
    Waltons website

4
Materials Needed for Class
  • Lab notebook (bound)
  • Binder with pockets
  • Ruler, protractor, compass
  • Pens, paper, pencils
  • Pocket packs of tissues to keep in bookbag
  • Scientific calculator (see next slide)

5
Calculators
  • A scientific calculator is needed for this class
    same one used in Math
  • An inexpensive one will suffice, graphing
calculators are NOT required for this course
  • Not having a calculator for classwork and tests
    was problematic last semester

6
I-Pods
  • For obvious reasons, these are NOT permitted in
    class
  • It is difficult enough to command the attention
of students these days without the added burden
    of plugged ears
  • Out of concern for the health and safety of my
students, I urge them to cut back on prolonged
    use of these devices
  • Leading audiologists are indicating that
    permanent hearing loss can result
