Our Sea
  • When you think of the sea, what do you think of?
Do you think of deep waters with many creatures?
Do you think of salty waters with beautiful
coral? Do you think of free-floating, microscopic
plankton and waves? If so, then you hit the
money! The sea is a very interesting place with
    many creatures and plants.

Oh, the wonderful sea! layoutsparks.com

Life in the Sea
  • There are many animals in the sea like the
flounder, the horseshoe crabs, makos. These fish
have some facts like . The makos are one of the
fastest sharks. They swim 30 miles per hour and
with short bursts up to 45 miles per hour. The
horseshoe crabs have been around since the
dinosaurs. Our groups favorite thing about the
horseshoe crabs is they have blue blood!

This is a mako shark. WATCH OUT!They
bite. www.elasmodiver.com
These are giant horseshoe crabs. They have that

Life in the Sea
  • A Flounder baby hatches with one eye on each side
of their head, like other fish. As they develop
the one eye across the head and ends up on the
other side. Enough of the baby flounder, Adult
flounder can face both eyes upward when laying
    flat on the sea floor.

Can you guess where this flounder
is? frank.itlab.us

We depend on the sea
  • People depend on many things that live in the
ocean. People eat a lot of animals and other
things that live in the ocean. Like shellfish,
fish and seaweed. The ocean currents affects the
climate. So people who live near the coastal
waters, Winters arent as cold and summers arent
as hot compared to their inland neighbors.

We depend on the sea
  • Phytoplankton produces their own food through
Photosynthesis as land plants do. During this
process, they release the oxygen we depend upon.
More than 50 of the oxygen in our atmosphere is
    produced in the worlds ocean.

What we can do
  • Waste pollutes, so pick up after your pet. Waste
pollutes water, polluted waters are unhealthy for
wildlife. We dont like to swim in polluted
waters, and food from those waters may be unsafe
    for us to eat.

You should help the ocean by picking up trash, as
these kids are doing. biomessixth10.wikispaces.co
