The Beginning

• The first time Pi was used in an equation was
  when Archimedes used it to find the area of a
  circle with a inscribed regular polygon in the
  circle.

What Is Pi

• Pi is the value of the ratio of a circles
  diameter to its circumference.
• It is used throughout engineering, science and
  math so its one of the most important symbols in
  mathmatics.

Example of Pi

• If you want to find the circumference of a circle
  and you already know the radius. You have to
  multiply the radius by 2 and then multiply it by
  pi.

The Symbol

• The idea of the pi symbol came from William Jones
  who was an English mathematician in 1706.
