    692.
  • What is the value of the digit 4 in 146, 692?
  • Lets look at a place value chart to help us
understand the value of each digit in a number.
  • Remember - the value of a digit depends on its
    place-value position in the number!!

Period
  • I thought we only used periods for sentences!
  • A period is a group of three digits separated by
a commas in a large number.
  • These periods help when writing in different
forms. They help reading and writing numbers
    correctly.
  • Every period is separated by a comma.
