Title: The Population Dynamics of Zindernoodleland-O-Rama

1
The Population Dynamics of Zindernoodleland-O-Rama
  • Brought To You By the Shark Team
  • Amy, Colin, Danielle, Michelle, Tanner

2
The Zindernoodles
  • Given the dynamics of a Zindernoodle population,
it was possible to construct a model to determine
the behavior of Zindernoodles as a function of
time based on the given parameters.
  • As an r-selected species, we assumed that the
Zindernoodles would reach their carrying capacity
    quickly and with catastrophic results
  • Through the use of our model, we determined
  • that the Zindernoodle Population would
  • collapse between 4995-5010 days

Is Rainfall a Factor?
  • By adjusting our model we determined that
relatively small rainfall amounts have little or
no significant effect on the time period till
    Zindernoodle Collapse
  • The calculated time for collapse again was
    4995-5010 days

5
The Blade-Munchers
  • By adding 100 predators to the Zindernoodle
system, our model predicts a catastrophic
collapse of both species within 60-75 days.
  • By manipulating the model it was not possible to
    utilize the Blade-Muncher as some
  • sort of control agent for the
  • Zindernoodle population.

The Introduction
7
Attempts to Maintain Equilibrium
8
The Zardhogs
  • With the introduction of Zardhogs into the
system, there is no way to maintain an
equilibrium of Zindernoodles in the habitat.
  • The number of Zardhogs that produced the longest
survival of the system was 4, with a time of
    210-225 days.
  • The Zardhogs decimate the entire population of
Blade-Munchers within this period, and presumably
they follow while the Zindernoodles continue on
    with there explosive growth.

The Effect of Zardhog Introduction
10
Hunting Is Not The Answer
  • By maintaining a constant Zardhog population
through hunting, it is not possible to stabilize
    the system.

The Intervention of Sunshine Moonbeam
  • Following Sunshine Moonbeams edict, the Zardhogs
die of starvation within 45 days, and the
    Zindernoodle population again explodes.
  • There is not enough time for the Blade-Muncher
population to establish itself before being
    exterminated by the Zardhogs.

In Summary
  • Nature is extremely complicated to model.
  • Given the current system dynamics, developing a
model to simulate the predator-prey relationship
between species becomes a near impossible task.
  • Achieving any state of equilibrium with the given
    species was not possible.
