  • Essential Questions
  • What are integers and what are their purpose?

5
What are integers?
  • When you subtract two positive numbers (numbers
larger than zero), it is possible to get an
answer of zero. Zero is neither positive nor a
    negative number.

6
What are integers?
  • Integers are a group of numbers that include
positive numbers, negative numbers and zero.
Integers have no upper bound or lower bound which
means that range from negative infinity to
    positive infinity.

7
What are integers?
  • Negative integers are numbers that are less than
zero. Positive integers are numbers that are
    greater than zero.

Real World Examples
Sports Gain and lose yards in a football
game
Money deposit and withdraw money
Weather Above and below zero
Geography Above and below sea level
9
The number line is a line labeled with the
integers. Numbers to the right of zero are
positive , and numbers to the left of zero are
negative.
