Title: Stepping Stones

1
Stepping Stones
  • Welcome to the SEAPC Stepping Stones
  • Seminar
  • In our time together you will learn
  • How to Abide in Christ.
  • Success at home and at work.
  • Staying Power.
  • Makrothunetic Living.

2
Stepping Stones
  • As you go forth from this place there are three
institutions you must uphold to be successful.
    Dr. Roger Knapp
  • 1. Your Church
  • 2. Your Family
  • 3. Your Country

3
Stepping Stones
  • The First Stepping Stone
  • Hupotasso A voluntary attitude of giving in,
    cooperating, assuming responsibility for, and
    carrying a burden.
  • 1 Cor 1615-16
  • I urge you, brothers, 16 to submit to such as
these and to everyone who joins in the work, and
    labors at it.

4
Stepping Stones Hupotasso
  • Personal strength requires submission in
  • Faith, Family, Country
  • Prosperity is the result of selecting the right
  • Higher Power
  • Book
  • To be productive you must have a spiritual base
    for your life.

5
Stepping Stones Hupotasso
  • Hupotasso A voluntary attitude of giving in,
    cooperating, assuming responsibility for, and
    carrying a burden.
  • Eph 521-24
  • 21 Submit to one another out of reverence for
    Christ.
  • 22 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife as
Christ is the head of the church, his body, of
which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church
submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to
    their husbands in everything.

6
Stepping Stones Hupotasso
  • Submit to one another out of reverence for
    Christ.
  • Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.
  • The husband is the head of the wife, as Christ is
the head of the church His body, of which He is
    the Savior.
  • The synergistic product of a couple losing
themselves in each othr is a new entity that is
greater than the sum of its parts.
  • You can build a positive relationship by
maintaining a good attitude toward each other.

7
Stepping Stones Hupotasso
  • Comparison is the basis of condemnation
  • Eph 525-28
  • 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ
loved the church and gave himself up for her 26
to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing
with water through the word, 27 and to present
her to himself as a radiant church, without stain
or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and
    blameless.

8
Stepping Stones Hupotasso
  • In our world Perception is mistaken for
    Reality.
  • Whatever you think about before you go to sleep
will work in your mind all night. Do not let the
    sun set on your anger.
  • Is your wife the reflection of your spiritual
    condition?
  • The successful couple sees the value of mutual
    respect.

9
Stepping Stones Values
  • Matt 2237-40
  • "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and
with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38
This is the first and greatest commandment. 39
And the second is like it 'Love your neighbor as
yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang
    on these two commandments."
  • How do we see our neighbors?

10
Stepping Stones Values
  • Can a republic based upon the ideology that all
men are created equal long endure?
  • Citizenship is the lifestyle of voluntarily
giving in to, cooperating with, assuming
responsibility for, and carrying the burdens of a
    community.
  • Inform yourself.
  • Serve others
  • Participate in the process.

11
Stepping Stones Abiding
  • John 135-39
  • 35 The next day John was there again with two of
his disciples. 36 When he saw Jesus passing by,
he said, "Look, the Lamb of God!"
  • 37 When the two disciples heard him say this,
they followed Jesus. 38 Turning around, Jesus saw
them following and asked, "What do you want?"
  • They said, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where
    are you staying?"
  • 39 "Come," he replied, "and you will see."

12
Stepping Stones Abiding
  • All great men have a spiritual base for their
    lives.
  • A believer is one who separates unto the word
spoken to him, and obeys its mandate
  • The word, worship, work, and giving disciplines
    are essential to abiding.
  • To stand on this Stepping Stone we must realize
that our life is not our own.
  • Empowerment can be realized only in the context
    of purpose.

13
Stepping Stones Staying Power
  • Heb 121-3
  • 21 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a
great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off
everything that hinders and the sin that so
easily entangles, and let us run with
perseverance the race marked out for us. 2 Let us
fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter
of our faith, who for the joy set before him
endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat
down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3
Consider him who endured such opposition from
sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and
    lose heart.

14
Stepping Stones Staying Power
  • Staying Power Endurance Hupomeno
  • To voluntarily remain in a situation.
  • Jesus endured the cross looking forward to the
joy that was set before Him.
  • Wang Ming Dao endured hardness looking to the
    promise of God.
  • In difficult times we must look beyond ourselves.
  • Selfishness erodes staying power.

15
Stepping Stones Makrothumeo
  • Heb 610-12
  • 10 God is not unjust he will not forget your
work and the love you have shown him as you have
helped his people and continue to help them. 11
We want each of you to show this same diligence
to the very end, in order to make your hope sure.
12 We do not want you to become lazy, but to
imitate those who through faith and patience
    inherit what has been promised.

16
Stepping Stones Makrothumeo
  • Every Promise has the condition of forgiveness.
  • Father, in the name of Jesus I forgive every
person living or dead who ever hurt me, used me,
or abused me in any way. In Jesus name I ask you
to forgive them. I release them to you. I ask you
to bless them, that they might know Jesus and
    live in righteousness.

17
Stepping Stones Makrothumeo
  • Little League Lessons
  • 1. Remain a team.
  • 2. Remain poised.
  • 3. Keep communication clear.
  • 4. Forgiveness is the key.
  • Forgiveness is a decision we make many times a
    day.

18
Stepping Stones Echoes
  • Meteko to partake of or share in a common
    experience.
  • We meet and there is an echo.
  • Meteko is the stuff of successful partnerships.
  • Meteko means we give ourselves to the person,
    idea, practice, or suggestion.
  • Connectedness should give inner peace.
  • A core value is the last to give way under
    pressure.

19
Stepping Stones Fellowship
  • 1 John 11-4
  • 11 That which was from the beginning, which we
have heard, which we have seen with our eyes,
which we have looked at and our hands have
touched-this we proclaim concerning the Word of
life. 2 The life appeared we have seen it and
testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal
life, which was with the Father and has appeared
to us. 3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and
heard, so that you also may have fellowship with
us. And our fellowship is with the Father and
    with his Son, Jesus Christ.

20
Stepping Stones Fellowship
  • Truth is the core element of fellowship.
  • Honesty delivers us from those fine-line
decisions that would forever separate us from
    fellowship.
  • To be a productive member of society, you must
value the other people in it.
  • Fellowship requires a common meal.
  • Honesty releases value.

21
Stepping Stones Fulfillment
  • Matt 56
  • 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for
righteousness, for they will be filled.
  • Fulfilled, perfected, and matured, these were
the three big words that his ears ached for each
Sunday. How will my children be fulfilled,
perfected, and matured? Stepping Stones pg 121

22
Stepping Stones Fulfilled
  • One day I woke up and realized I was a coach.
  • Coaches stand on the stepping stone of
fulfillment as the raging rapids swirl all around
    them.
  • Fulfilled, perfected, and matured these are the
    three key words.
  • Love, follow, live, hold onto spiritual values,
and apply them these are the five lessons that
    last

"Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."
  • 18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of
Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter
and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net
into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 "Come,
follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you
fishers of men." 20 At once they left their nets
    and followed him.

26
Stepping Stones Motion
  • Sure Steps
  • From sterile stagnation, the people became fluid
    followers.
  • Relationship must replace position thinking.
  • Purpose replaces power.
  • Quality of life replaces standard of living.

    what you receive.
  • Temporal value is replaced by eternal value.

gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and
to heal every disease and sickness.

the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But
you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes
on you and you will be my witnesses in
Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to
    the ends of the earth."
