Imagery
  • Words that create an image in the readers mind
    that allow us to see what is not directly stated
    in the text. It is writing that shows instead of
    tells!
  • The watermelon dripped sweet, cold, sticky juice
    down my chin.
  • His heart pounded like a snare drum.

The figurative language types that follow are all
examples of imagery.
