• The solubility of a substance represents the
  maximum amount of solute that can dissolve in 100
  grams of solvent at a given temperature.

• Solubility is expressed as grams of solute/ 100
  grams of solvent. For aqueous solutions this
  would be grams of solute/100 grams of water.

• Ex 1 If 3.5 grams of NaCl can dissolve in 10.0g
  of water at 25oC, what is the solubility of NaCl?

• Ex 2 If 123 grams of KNO3 dissolves in 50.0 ml
  of water at 50.0oC, then what is its solubility?

  the amount of solute that will precipitate out of
